Can AI agents understand what your business sells?

Once an agent is in, it has to work out what you sell, what it costs and how to get it. Comprehend checks whether those facts are stated in a form a machine can read.

Why it matters

An agent that has to guess your prices or hours from the layout of a page guesses wrong, or gives up and recommends someone whose facts it can read.

Machine readable business facts

10 points

What we check. JSON-LD structured data: business identity, what you sell, FAQ answers, phone and address, opening hours. Each is scored separately.

How to fix it. Add JSON-LD: for a local business, one script tag with LocalBusiness (or a subtype such as ExerciseGym or DaySpa), its address, telephone, openingHoursSpecification, and an Offer or Service for each thing you sell.

Content readable without running JavaScript

7 points

What we check. Counts visible words in the raw HTML before any script runs. A page that is empty until React hydrates is empty to a large share of agents.

How to fix it. Server render or pre-render your marketing pages. The quick interim fix is to put your core facts, services, prices and contact details into the initial HTML.

llms.txt briefing for AI

4 points

What we check. A plain language file at /llms.txt telling an AI what your business is. The cheapest item on the list.

How to fix it. Publish /llms.txt: a short markdown file naming the business, what it sells, who it serves, the service area, prices if public, and links to the pages that matter.

Page states what it is

4 points

What we check. Title, meta description, exactly one h1, and a lang attribute.

How to fix it. Give every page one descriptive title, a meta description over 40 characters, exactly one h1, and a lang attribute on the HTML element.
